about

'Tone Wars' is an album inspired by industrial electronic music from the late '80s and early '90s, complete with heavy gated drums, mechanical percussion, sequenced basslines, experimental sounds, overdriven synth riffs, and with dark melodies and atmospheres on top. The initial inspiration for the album came from experiments with feeding synthesizers through a recently acquired Roland GP-8 guitar FX processor to create almost guitar-like tones. The resulting music owes as much to progressive rock (especially the multi-part title track) and metal as it does to electronic music. Digital synthesizers have been used predominantly throughout. All guitar sounds on the first four tracks are generated from synthesizers, while real guitars and bass make prominent appearances on the title track.
