about

Recorded intermittently over a period of a month, 'A Step In The Dark' is an eerie and unsettling atmospheric and experimental double album partly inspired by the writings and paranormal research of the English archaeologist T. C. Lethbridge. Through his divination experiments with a pendulum in the 1960s, Lethbridge believed he found evidence of an another world, parallel to this one, where the disembodied spirits of the dead presided once they had left this mortal coil.

This album utilises two late 1980s digital synthesizers, a handful of VST instruments, a cheap home keyboard, and a small number of VST FX devices, alongside extensive use of tape and sonic manipulation throughout to create the tense, dark and unsettling atmosphere which pervades many of the tracks. Instruments: Kawai K4r, Korg M1, Logic Pro Alchemy, Sculpture, Native Instruments Absynth, G-Force M-Tron, Camel Audio Chameleon, Bontempi BT-805. FX devices: Arturia Tape Delay 201, Memory Brigade, Native Instruments Raum.
